About the course

Navigating at the harbor can be dangerous if you do not have knowledge of safety procedures and behaviour. On the course, we go through the general things you need to be aware of regarding personal safety, protective equipment, handling dangerous goods as well as marking and signs. We practice the practicalities: signaling to vehicles and cranes as well as transition from vessel to quay and vice versa. We will touch on radio communication as well as specific safety procedures when moving close to water and the dangers of this. The course also includes elementary fire fighting and first aid in connection with accidents and drowning accidents as well as correct manual handling.

Objectives:

Knowledge of structure, work tools, workflows and processes, as well as technical terms in a port.

Knowledge of technical language and use of port-related drawing language and symbols..

The participant can handle the work in a port in a responsible and safe manner, and has a thorough knowledge of first aid, including rescue and first aid for a person in water.

Acquired thorough knowledge of personal safety equipment, as well as safe transfer of people between land and vessel.

Carrying out correct fire fighting, identifying signs of fire and exhibiting fire prevention behaviour.

Acquired thorough knowledge of a safe working environment. Correct working postures, prevention of injury and reporting of any damages.

Knowledge of father symbols and labeling and can act in accordance with these.
